The Day of Light

Celebrate don't fear, shout with joy don't mourn for the Light has come. The Savior of the world has been born. Hope break forth, Life has come into the world. Shout with Heaven and sing with the Angels. Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace and good will to all men.
Luke 2:9-11 KJV

"And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.  And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."

The Hope, Jesus Christ, came to destroy the darkness in our life and set us free.
Luke 4:18-19 KJV

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,    To preach the acceptable year of the Lord."

Amen, John 8:36 KJV

"If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed."

Father thank you for Loving the world, that you gave your Only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him will have everlasting life. In Jesus Amen.
Merry Christmas.

2nd Day of Light

It's almost Time... Heaven is anticipating, a hush is in the air, celebration is about to break out, as the Angels choir gets ready to sing a new song. The star is about to announce the Gift of God wrapped in flesh. Mary's contractions are closer and the Promise is ready to spring forth. The sheep are sleeping and the shepherds resting. Something is in the air. Light is about to break forth. Life is ready to show the Love, of the Father, to a lost and dying world. He who knew no sin will become our redeemer, Jesus, the Savior, Emmanuel, God with us. Oh glorious Day...salvation is at hand.
Matthew 1:23 KJV
"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."
Father thank you for the Greatest gift of Love, your Son, your beloved, our everlasting life and hope, in Jesus name Amen.

3rd Day of Light

Ok ladies, you probably can image this a lot better than us guys. Mary in her 9th month just arrived in Bethlehem, after a 90 mile trip, on the back of a donkey. Now they cannot find a place to stay, it's cold and she is starting to have labor pains. What a predicament to be in and it all started from the Angel Gabriel speaking a word from God to Mary. I wonder if Mary ever second guessed her response to Gabriel,
Luke 1:38 KJV
"...Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her."

She might not have known everything involved, but she trusted her God. God does not choose us so we can fail, but to be vessels that He can receive all the glory and honor from. She also believed Gabriel when he Said,
Luke 1:37 KJV
"For with God nothing shall be impossible."

When we decide to except and follow Jesus, he didn't illuminate your whole life from start to eternal life, but promised to always be with you and His word would be a light to the path.
Psalms 119:105 KJV
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
Father we will trust you to lead us by your Word and Spirit. Nothing is to difficult for you if we will just believe the Light leading us each day in Jesus Christ Amen

4th Day of Light

Ok as we have been doing this 12 days of Light devotional, probably the last 3 to 4 days Mary and Joseph have been traveling a harsh and rough road to Bethlehem. It is estimated from Nazareth to Bethlehem to be about 90 miles and most of the trip is uphill and downhill, thieves and wild animals. Mary in her ninth month pregnant riding on a donkey 10 miles a day would be pushing it. Traveling in the winter in the desert would have been cold during the day and freezing at night with the probability of a lot of rain. God the Father did not make it easy for His Son to come into this world . Neither was it easy for Mary and Joseph who received the Word from God, to carry it out faithfully. Yet we today are so distracted by difficulties, getting our eyes off of God and the Word that he has spoken to us. THE Light needs to come forth, lives need to be changed and this world needs to be saved. Are you willing to be faithful with the Light that is in you?

Luke 2:4-5 NKJV
Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.

Father help us today to be faithful just as Joseph and Mary were faithful to carry out the word that was in them, that you had spoken to them by the power of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

5th Day of Light

As I watched our children's program today at church for Christmas it reminded me of what Jesus said," Suffer the little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for to such belongeth the kingdom of heaven." Jesus came as a baby. Babies and children have a way of drawing crowds. They bring joy and laughter and love. Children seem to light up a room, just as Jesus became a light to this world, with his love. That little baby in the manger brought joy to Joseph and Mary, the shepherds, the wise men and to everyone that came in contact with him.  Let him light up your world with joy and make a difference to those around you.
Father thank you for the light and the joy of Jesus Christ. Thank you for shining through us into this world in Jesus name Amen.

6th Day of Light

As I prepare myself for worship tomorrow, I begin to remind myself of what a great God and awesome God we serve. Because of his light I have life and I have it more abundantly Jn 10:10. Thank you Jesus our awesome Creator and Lord, for coming to this earth and redeeming mankind. You created the universe, the stars, the planets and all that we can see and not see, we give you praise. You are Infinite and Majestic, but you took time, to take on the form of a servant. You suffered for us to set us free.
John 8:36 NKJV

Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Father thank you for the freedom, Jesus thank you for paying for freedom, Holy Spirit thank you for keeping us free in Jesus name Amen

7th Day of Light

So here is our quandary. Light came into this world, and the world has been trying to extinguish it for over 2 thousand years. Hasn't always been that way. Because the Light is the Word, the Son of God. He made this world, but this world was deceived by Satan through man. But the Light can't be put out. So Satan through a fallen world tries to deceive us by self gratification and lust for more, thinking that God is holding back enlightenment and pleasures we deserve. Same lie to Eve and Adam. Move God aside man will destroy himself. Give man Xmas you make him believe there is no true meaning or hope in life. Hide Christ, "man assumes self-pleasure (mas). But without the Babe there is no cross, no empty tomb and no eternal life. Are you deceived or do you see the Light.
I John 1:5-7 NKJV
This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Father redeem us from our sin and our own self gratification. Gives us the light of your love through Jesus your Son. Amen

8th Day of Light

In the book The Applause of Heaven, Max Lucado refers to a small cathedral outside of Bethlehem, which supposedly, marks the birthplace of Jesus Christ. Behind the altar of the church there is cave, if you go into this cave there is a star embedded in the floor which recognizes the birth of the King. There is one stipulation, you have to stoop down to get through the door of the cave, because it's so low you cannot go through it, standing up. The same is true of Christ. You can stand and see the rest of the world, but to witness the Savior you have to get down on your knees.
James 4:6 NKJV
... “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”
So receive the light and the knowledge of Jesus Christ and live, or stand in our own knowledge with pride and fall.
Father we come to you in Jesus Christ your Son . We humble ourselves to not only a child, a man, but to a Savior and Redeemer, our soon coming King. Amen

9th Day of Light

The last few days we have been sharing about the True Light. This light was the Son of God. He was fully God and fully man and he came to redeem all mankind. He was the Greatest Gift ever given from God to man. This Greatest Gift came to give us, who were lost in darkness, hope. If we will flee from our sin and lay hold to Christ, we shall find eternal refuge and safety. For in Romans 6:23 the Bible says "for the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." It comes down to this; that he who was sinless and perfect made a great gift exchange with us. He will give you light, and take your darkness, he gives you rest for your mess, joy for your sorrow, hope for your hopelessness and peace in your broken and troubled life. Will you accept God's greatest gift? Jesus Christ.
Father we thank you for giving us the greatest gift your Son Jesus Christ. Thank you for coming into our heart and forgiving us, of all our sin, in Jesus name Amen.

10th Day of Light

In our devotion today I want to talk about the perfection of the light Jesus Christ. Not only was he God as we talked about yesterday. But he was perfect without sin. The Bible says that God made him a body. This body did not receive any DNA or cells from human beings such as Joseph or Mary. But the Holy Ghost made Jesus a perfect, sinless body. His perfection was not in his looks or how handsome he was. The Bible says in Isaiah 53:2-3 there was no comeliness about him. He came as a humble servant yet sinless for you and me. That is why he is called the second man Adam. As God formed Adam a body in Genesis, so God for his Son made a body, Hebrews 10:5. Because a perfect Lamb had to be slain for the sins of mankind, on a cruel rugged cross, he would die for us all. That is the light that we celebrate that drives out the darkness that sets men's souls free. At Christmas time we celebrate a sinless child who came to take our sins and to redeem us for eternity.
Father help us to realize the power of Jesus name and the power of his death because he was the sinless Lamb who took our sins and set us free, in Jesus name Amen.

11th Day of Light.

As I was thinking about the devotional for today. I begin to think about the quality or the integrity of a light. You know for 99 cents you can buy a cheap light, or you can pay a lot of money for a Maglite. The problem we have here, is that no matter how good the quality is on the outside, its what powers it on the inside that matters. A light is only as good as its power source. What sets Jesus apart from all other prophets and teachers and good men, is the fact that He is God the Son. That he had and still has all power. The baby in swaddling close lying in a manger was eternal and everlasting, in him there is no end.
John 1:1-5 NKJV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
Father help us to receive and understand that your Son was that baby and he came to bring light to a lost and dying world. That we may know the love of God in Jesus name amen.

12 days of Light

I was thinking about calling this devotional,12 Days of Christmas Devotional, but I begin to realize that what our world is lacking today is light. The True Light, the light that shines in darkness and darkness has to flee. Isaiah 9:2 said, " the people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined." Jesus came over 2,000 years ago in a time of darkness and turmoil that Isaiah for told. Even now there is darkness, turmoil, and hopelessness. But Jesus is the light that can come into our darkness and give us hope and life.  A babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. Who would think? WHO would believe? In such a place and in such a time, that this child could change Eternity. So let's talk about this for the next few days.
Holy Spirit helpless to hear what your Word desires for us to hear, that will bring faith, victory, hope and joy during this Christmas season, in Jesus name Amen.
